That the creature was a big silly animal probably saved him from a lot of accusations of unnatural stupidity which AI has to survive Smiley

Indeed, on that note, you should probably acquaint yourself with the concept of artificial empathy, with the work at Lirec and the idea of B.A.S.A.A.P. ("Be As Smart As A Puppy").

There's a strand in media art/AI that plays with accepting the faults that AIs make and use them to improve their believability. Accidents can provoke empathy. Stupidity can be charming. Away from the idea of AIs as superhumans and closer to the idea of AIs as pets that need you to care for them.
