16  General / Introductions / howdy on: January 21, 2011, 04:22:36 AM
I'm not one for introductions, but it seems appropriate here.

I started toying with making games-in-a-general-sense after becoming enamored with the little loops that form the background music in incomprehensible RPG Maker projects like Neftelia or Yume Nikki. My main route of creativity is music (some serious, some quite unserious), and I liked the idea of using 20-30 second snippets as a way of exploring weird musical devices that I'd otherwise never be able to. Over time I started exploring the whole 'indie game scene' (*cough*), and found myself gravitating toward things that seemed to place atmosphere over "hit the switch, solve the puzzle, go to the next level". Which is why I like the idea of notgames -- sometimes I don't really care about the destination, I just want a pleasant/pretty/thought-provoking/whatever journey.

But there's still not enough out there to satisfy every little nitpick and whim I might have, so now I'm trying to create something of my own in hopes of coming out with something I can be proud of. Which is difficult.

anyone ever play this? It's hard to go into much detail without ruining the ending, but I found it to be a very worthwhile diversion.
