Sorry for my long absence.  Between the last time I visited this forum, I had just finished the art I was making for my project partner (for his 'notgames' game), and started commissioning art for my own project (since I needed slightly better art for my own project than what I can make myself) which is more like a traditional game but with a thematic twist.  Both our games are slated to release in the latter part of 2011, hopefully.  And they're both our biggest works yet, story-centric and spanning a minimum of 5 hours for a single run-through (that's without considering built-in replayability).

The honest reason why I reactivated in this forum is that we discovered that the very communities we helped build would most likely reject our work now, since while we've been less active to concentrate more on our projects, the forums evolved over time to hold various set expectations, and the projects we are working on no longer fit the demographics.

In short, the audience we were expecting when we started working on our big games are no longer in the community, to be replaced with young blood with more talent but with a more stringent set of expectations about the kinds of games that should get released on the forums.  I don't want to mention that community because I still have respect to its founders, but you sort of get the picture.

So we're desperately trying to find a new audience... that's how I found myself back here, and I'll be introducing my project partner as well as the year passes by.

Ah, yes, that's me.

It isn't just the mainstream videogames industry that is currently suffering from lack of ideas, you can count Hollywood and anime to that list as well.

I want to make anime-style games which currently have the reputation of being same-old spiky haired hero or those sick porn games for pedobears.

But I want to be different (don't we all  Wink ) so I'm thinking of something along the lines of high satire.  It will be tasteful though, but that's also subjective.

Am I still welcome or do I not fit the target demographic of this forum  Grin
