Anyway, the supply of high quality energy by the radiation from the sun, is more than enough for our needs. Energy processes are continuously going on, so why not just join in? It is a question of sufficiently smart technology .. we do not have that yet, but are approachcing, I hope.
Yeah, I hope so too. Solar power should be far more mature than it is.

In that particular talk, nothing much really. It was an interesting viewpoint. Being exposed to new ideas is always a good thing, even if you have no direct use for them. I found the whole conference and the Notgames Fest generally inspiring.
I never had any particular love for Miyamoto's games. The only game of his I ever enjoyed enough to complete was Super Mario 64. Mainly because of the exploration aspect and it was the first strongly immersive virtual world I experienced.

We should not use that energy from a moral standpoint. I think it is even unethic. The atomic nucleus is not meant to be broken up. Don't mess with the universe, people. Or the universe will mess with us. Call me old fashioned... I'm not sure that even makes sense. LIke Chainsawkitten said, it's the building principles of the universe. Also your statement sounds quasi-religious. The universe isn't a sentient being that will punish us for transgressions. You might as well say it will punish us for masturbating.

I was! It was an interesting talk, as most of them were. It was a great experience and I found it very inspiring (the whole thing, not just that particular session). I wish I could go to all the game conferences.

Oh yeah, this guy gave a talk at GDC Europe and then some people played it on the roof. I couldn't remember the name of it. Folk game. Uhg. Only a journalist would come up with that. It's all fine and good if you actually like playing games with others. I don't. I have no clue what this thread is about.

I'm glad you got something out of it. I'm also happy to hear you want to make a sequel!
However, it's like reading an academic paper. I couldn't get through the first paragraph. Why are some people incapable of writing in plain english? Are they out to impress everyone? Are they trying to justify the tuition for that liberal arts degree? Intellectual diarrhea. Blech.
Anyway, something caught my eye skimming over it, she claims every girl winds up dead with their broken body shown at the end. I don't remember any broken bodies. It's implied that a few of the girls die but it seems far from certain for all of them. I remember one reviewer claiming The Path was a rape simulator. I guess see what they want to see, even if they make it up.

KnifeFightBob, you know, all Metal music has always had a pretty damn big romantic streak. From the imagery to the lyrics. Sure, it tends to focus on the dark side of things but that affinity for the sublime is very strong and persistent.
Your argument that the consequence is more important reminds me of the process vs finished work argument. What is more important, the process of creation or the creation itself? Actually, you're going a step further; it almost sounds like you're saying the intentions of the artist are irrelevant to the audience. In your example, you didn't care about what the band was saying or trying to accomplish artistically, you were purely about your own personal experience. I've been making this argument here in an old thread. That the intentions of the artist are, ultimately, irrelevant.
Your mistake is that you're saying your experience is the only one that has any merit. That somehow, all other experiences are more shallow than your view of art. Everything else is "kitsch" and fake (fucking Greenberg). You can't make a pluralist argument then contradict it. That is exactly the mistake all contemporary art has made. You're chasing your own tail.

I recently tried to hire a certain PR guy that did promotion for a very successful, recent indie game. He turned me down. He basically said A.W.E. was too weird and he had no clue how to promote it. Anyone know of any other PR types that will work with indies?
