I am happy there are more people attacking this system now. And quite right, too, on many points.

Though it is a bit typical he mentions Joyce and champions a (in my opinion) completely hideous, meaningless piece of work which, should I see that in a museum, I would quickly walk past. Proving, perhaps, that my enemy's enemy is not always my friend when it comes to 'what we should have in museums'.

I haven't read the entire article. But I have attended the Vencie Biennial and have seen two shows filled with art along this "illustrator" vein.

Future Pass, an officially recognized collateral event that takes place in two venues.

The Emergence of the Pop Imagist: not part of the biennial but taking part at the same time in the same town:

I'd say: No Panic: recognition is right around the corner. Smiley

In the mean time, I continue my not caring about the contemporary fine art world with complete ease of conscience.

Contemporary fine art is an oxymoron. Fine art is dead and can therefore not be contemporary. And if not, it hasn't rarely been "fine" in over a century. I do admire the attempts of some of these "Pop Imagists" to reclaim the virtues of beauty. I'm actually quite fond of Ray Caesar for instance
