Cool project! Just curious, what's your intention behind using puzzles? Just following tradition, or something deeper? (either answer is valid, just curious)
Thanks! We are following tradition to some extent but we mainly want the puzzles to act as a way for both the player and the little creature you are controlling to grow in tandem throughout the game. The puzzles act as obstacles which test the creature's and the player's determination in reaching their goal and we think that the satisfaction in solving them will help us achieve this.

Thank you Thomas!
Oknytt is rather traditional in many ways but the thought provoking ideas on this site are always in my mind during development. This doesn't always translate into what direction we take the game though but I hope to get some things in there even if its just minor elements that may not be recognized straight away.

Hello everyone!

I thought I'd share what I've been working on as a main project for a while now.
Me and a couple of friends have banded together to create our first computer game Oknytt, which in short is a fully voiced classic point-and-click adventure game, a fairy tale heavily inspired by Swedish folklore. The gameplay is comprised of a mix of classic puzzle solving and manipulation of parts of the environment around you.
We have been working on the game for about a year now and we recently released a trailer which you can find on our website (http://www.nemoria.net/oknytt ) as we are closing in on our month of release. The exact date is to be announced.

If you would like to know more, feel free to ask questions here or head over to our facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/Oknyttgame).

Hi everybody!

Sjörök is the name of the game me and a few fellow students have been working on as our last project during second grade at our university.
It was supposed to be a 10 week project but since we won a competition we could thereby connect the last pieces during the summer and have it launched.
It is currently out on our website for download and it's free so check it out!.
The game is unfortunately in Swedish for now but you could still enjoy the atmosphere and environments, maybe you could even figure out the story, since it can be interpreted in many ways.
Feedback from you guys would be appreciated since we are still learning and would like to know what people think, especially people like you that the game was basically made for.
Finally I just want so say how inspiring all of you have been to us and without you guys we would never have made this game. Thank you!

It appears that the site is down at the moment but if you want to read an interview while it gets back online, check out this link (also in swedish).

I'm happy to announce that Sweden is finally getting a game magazine that is a tad bit more sophisticated than the other ones. The two creators want to take a step away from the current style of game journalism and make it more about the medium itself and the less recognized games out there. The first issue is released at the end of April and there will be 4 releases a year.
This is hopefully a step in the right direction for game journalism and i'm really excited to see what they are gonna write about. As it is now, the most interesting articles are on the blogs, not in the magazines. The magazines seems to serve more as a marketing tool than as magazines about games and the medium. I hope that Fienden will turn this tide and make people aware of the more obscure parts of the game medium.

I'm sorry but it's in swedish.

We are soon starting a project in UDK and we were all really inspired by the first minute or so of the trailer. Then we all agreed on that the rest of it was repulsive and now we know how our game shouldn't be.

My name is Max Nilsson and I'm currently studying game design at Blekinge Institute of Technology in Karlshamn, Sweden.
After making several games I became more and more interested in how we could change the medium and peoples view on games. "Normal" games started to seem bland and I was craving for something more. When I play a game, I want to feel like when I watch a good movie or read a book; I want emotions. Real emotions, that you actually care about a persons fate in the game. I also want to feel and think when I play, not just kill some time and have fun.
This is my goal for now, until I find something new to experiment with.

Here is my website, which is quite outdated so it doesn't exactly represent who I am today. But you can still download some older games I've made if you want to see my development process:

Here is a sample of the direction I'm heading in making games. We made this game in 2 weeks and I'm really proud of how it all turned out. Hopefully we will continue working on it since it's lacking in some aspects.

Thank you guys for inspiring me by the way, and keep up the good work!
