Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZZbX-6VoXk&feature=related you can find interesting slideshow from upcoming new project of Academy Nominated Tom Baginski called "Hardkor 44".

The interesting part is that the project is made in cooperation with Warsaw Uprising Museum and it looks like it is a steampunkish version of what happened in Warsaw in 1944. Looks promising, brave and interesting. Another example of how animation explores space interactive medium didn't yet try out. Which is interesting. I assume game or not-a-game could easily be used to tell a historical fiction story (or a historical story) but for some reason no ones tries it (apart from Super Columbine Massacre RPG). Why? Hopefully due to the young age of interactive medium, not to the mental/emotional restrictions of creators.

Perhaps some of you will find it inspiring.

Belgian serious games developer Playing The Past (http://www.playingthepast.com/wordpress/home/) is working on a World War I simulation for documentary purposes (a certain region in Belgium was on of the most important battle fields during Wold War I). The interesting thing about this simulation is that it is aiming to be historically accurate. I heard something like you play a soldier who gets killed the minute he fires a weapon. :)
And they tend to make mods with first person shooter engines. So it's kind of nicely perverse.

Interesting.
Unfortunately, I haven't found anything on their website about this project. Unless I've missed something.
